These wide mouth Reagent bottles, also known as an Apothecary Jars, are made of Flint glass and come with ground glass stoppers. Being machine ground, the stopper creates a glass-to-glass, air-tight fit in an upright position without the use of a rubber or cork stopper. Reagent bottles are commonly used to contain chemicals in liquid or powder form for laboratories. Over time, however, they have also become popular to use in the kitchen for storing foods, pantry items or candies. Many people use them for decoration by filling them with items such as dried flowers, colored sand or brightly colored stones.

Flint glass is not as resistant to heat, shock or corrosion as borosilicate glass and is, therefore, less resistant to damage. It should be used for storage only and should not be heated.

***Please note – due to the way these bottles are made, and the fact that they are manufactured for use in laboratories, they will often contain an occasional small bubble or surface blemish. This is normal and does not make them any more fragile
