Petrified Wood Branch Cross Section w Polished End
Approx. 2.5 – 3 Inch – Colors Vary
Information Card Included
The word petrified means “turned to stone”. In certain areas of the world, dry and barren deserts now cover what was once lush with green plants & forests. For some reason the forest died, and the trees fell to the ground. There silica and other mineral-bearing solutions infiltrated the wood and slowly impregnated it with stone. The stone took on the shape and color of the wood from the trees. It is a Fossilized Tree. Polishing the end sometimes allows the cell structure (when it remains) to be seen with a microscope well enough to identify the wood. Makes a beautiful paperweight.
