Mitosis is the division of a single cell into a pair of two identical daughter cells, each one having the exact same traits as the parent cell from which they originated. Each one has the same chromosomes, and their own nucleus.

It is divided into a series of stages that corresponds to the completion of one specific set of activities, and the start of the next.
