Magnetic Pole Finder

A quick and easy way to demonstrate the three-dimensionality of magnetic force fields, the magnetic pole finder consists of a small, powerful, alnico bar magnet that has been gimbal mounted so that it will be able to rotate freely along all axes. Because of this, it is much more convenient and accurate than using the traditional methods of compasses and iron filings, which only show things in two dimensions. Because of its ability to rotate freely, it is perfect for experiments with utilize the forces between magnetic poles, the fields around wires and coils, as well as the properties of magnetic fields that have been produced by electric currents.

It measures approximately 118mm (11.8cm) in length, and features a 19x3mm alnico bar magnet.
