The lightest of all hydrocarbons, it is a petroleum fraction that is made up of mostly C5 and C6 hydrocarbons, with solvent properties. As a liquid, it is clear and colorless, with no fluorescent properties, and is insoluble in water. Its odor is reminiscent of gasoline or kerosene. Petroleum ether is also referred to as VM&P Naphtha.

This chemical is for laboratory use only, and is not intended for food, drug, or cosmetic use. It should be kept out of the reach of children.
