Allihn Condenser, Borosilicate Glass, 300mm

 

   The Allihn condenser features a multi-bulb inner tube, and uses liquid, typically water, to cool the vapors in the inner tube because of its higher capacity to absorb heat. The continuous circulation of water through the jacket helps keep the temperature constant.

    The multiple bulbs of the inner tube of an Allihn condenser serve to increase the surface area, where vapors can turn into condensation during the distillation process. The design of the bulbs make this type of condenser extremely useful in reflux and vacuum distillations.

   Both the top and bottom of the condenser are 24/40 ground glass, allowing for use with ground glass connectors on other glassware, when connecting the condenser to the rest of a distillation setup.

    Two small inlets on opposite sides of the outer jacket allow water or another liquid to circulate around the coil to assist in the formation of condensation. They can be attached to a water source using 5/16″ flexible tubing.

    The jacket length of this condenser is 300mm.
