This flat, small Fresnel lens is great for reading, repairing jewelry, electronics or anything small that you need to be magnified. This compact magnifying lens measures approximately 1.5 in wide by 3 in long x .5mm thick and stores easily between pages of a book. A French physicist named Augustin Fresnel invented this lens in 1822 to be used in lighthouses. The construction of a Fresnel lens is quite interesting as it allows magnification just like regular glass lenses do, but it can be as thin as paper!
