This is a beautiful Natural Novelty lamp. Starting with the lovely polished satin spar (Selenite) Corkscrew that has been polished to a slick, bright finish. This natural mineral specimen measures approximately 6 inches in height and about 1.5 inches in diameter, at the base. Then we added a battery operated LED mirrored lamp base that provides a rotating 4 color light show. When the Selenite is placed upon the base it amplifies the multi-colored light show as the colors rotate through the spectrum of red, orange, blue, pink and all the colors in between. The natural light admitting properties of selenite magnify the light show while emitting the fibrous texture of the Selenite through the colored light. The top surface of the lamp base is fitted with a mirror to help amplify the amazing colored light show effect.

Selenite is one of four crystalline mineral varieties of gypsum and is named after the Greek word for ‘Moon’. Many specimens appear glass like with a pearly white or silky luster. It’s transparent, light admitting properties have made it useful for window panes, such as those in Santa Sabina in Rome. It’s crystals commonly form in mica-like sheets and can appear columnar. Some times called satin spar for it’s smooth, satin finish; it is formed as an evaporative mineral. Selenite may disintegrate if submerged in water. The healing properties of selenite are said to deliver clarity of mind, by cleansing the aura of negative energy.
