Also known as quinine sulfate, this aqueous solution will fluoresce a pale white-blue color when exposed to longwave UV light in a dark room. It is typically used in photochemistry as a common fluorescent standard, as it has a relatively constant and well known fluorescence quantum yield. It’s UV absorption peaks at approximately 350nm with UVA, and has a fluorescent emission that peaks at 450nm. This is a 0.5% aqueous solution and is at maximum saturation.
This chemical is for laboratory use only, and is not for food, drug or cosmetic use. Keep out of reach of children. Each bottle of our reagents come standard with an MSDS sheet included. If you require a copy of this prior to purchase, please contact us.
Note: Quinine Solution (Blue Dye) is not as vivid as the red and green dyes. All solutions react to standard longwave UV (350nm+). Lowering the pH of the quinine solution may increase fluorescence. The dye will fluoresce a pale, white/blue when exposed to blacklight.
