140mm Premium Porcelain Buchner Funnel

This 140mm buchner funnel has an inside diameter of 130mm and a depth of 61mm, giving it a total volume of approximately 810mL, or 0.8L. It features an overall height of 220mm, with 105mm of that being the stem. We recommend using either a 12.5cm or 15cm filter paper, and a filtering flask no smaller than 1000mL (1 liters).

Used in the process of filtration, a buchner funnel features a perforated plate that separates the reservoir cylinder from the funnel. They are most often used in conjunction with a filtering flask, and either a hand vacuum pump, electric vacuum pump, or a vacuum system, though sometimes they are allowed to filter by means of gravity (this method can take a while to complete). Your solution gets poured into the reservoir cylinder, and the liquid gets pulled through the filter paper that has been placed on top of the plate, leaving behind the precipitate while the liquid collects in the flask below.

The formulas for the porcelain and the glaze of our JBF Premium Buchner Funnel line have been altered slightly, making for a higher quality and more durable buchner funnel. These changes allow it to be thinner, yet just as strong, as our economy line of porcelain buchner funnels.The premium line of JBF porcelain buchner funnels features an even higher thermal shock resistance, featuring an average coeficient of expansion from 20-200°C at 3.56×10-5, and gradually increasing to 4.69×10-5 at 1050°C.

The white glaze helps protect the porcelain from softening, with none occurring at up to 1000°C. The glaze also increases the porcelains resistance to chemical action, meaning that it has an excellent resistance to both acids and alkalies, with the exception of hydrofluoric acid.
