Description

This is an exceptional quality fluorescent calcite specimen chunk in the rough! It measures approximately 73mm (2.75″) in length, 54mm (2″) in height, and 48mm (2″) in thickness. This calcite is a naturally formed mineral specimen from the location of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The calcite that comes from this area will turn a vibrant pink under longwave UV (365nm), a pale yellow under midwave UV (307nm), and a ghostly white-blue under shortwave UV (254nm). It even displays the property of phosphorescence after being exposed to shortwave, slowly dimming to blue when the light source is turned off before returning to its natural state.

  • Measures 73mm x 54mm x 48mm (3″ x 2″ x 2″)
  • UV reactive to shortwave (white-blue), midwave (yellow), and longwave (pink)
  • phosphorescent (blue)
  • Extracted from Nuevo Leon, Mexico
  • Rhombohedral crystal habit
  • 1 pound 2 ounces (approx. 2500 ct)

All measurements are approximate. The images you see are the exact specimen in this listing. This specimen is still in its rough form, direct from the mine it was extracted from. There is visible damage, but most is cleavage. Don’t miss out on this great mineral specimen! There is only one exactly like it!
