3D Magnetic Field Demonstration Chamber

The magnetic field demonstrator is excellent for teaching students about the two, and three, dimensional nature of magnetic fields. Made of clear acrylic, this chamber consists of two half hexagonal chambers that are partly filled with iron filings. Connected via a pair of hinges, the halves of the demonstration chamber can be closed together to form a full hexagon, or open in their half hexagonal state. An alnico bar magnet sits in a notched space in the middle of the two halves, allowing students to see what happens when the two halves are separated. This unique construction is able to reveal the cross-section of a magnetic field.

When both halves are put together, it creates a 5.1×5.1×5.1 inch cube. As individual halves, they measure 5.1×2.56×5.1 inches (HxWxL)
