This classic piece of physics equipment has a 4.5cm (45mm) metal pulley with low-friction brass cone bearings, and is mounted horizontally onto a cast iron table clamp.  It can clamp onto surfaces up to 2.5cm (25mm or 1 inch) think.  A sturdy metal crossbar on the end of the screw offers a better grip for tightening it onto a surface.  A screw on the top of the clamp allows for the the resistance of the pulley to be adjusted.
