Wire gauze, also known as wire mesh, is essential for in any good laboratory.  Made from galvanized woven wire, the edges have been carefully turned over so that clothing or skin doesn’t get caught when the gauze is being handled. Gauze is typically used to support a beaker or flask during heating, and to help spread out the flame from a burmer to evenly heat the bottom of the container.
