Budding Hydra CS Prepared Slide
This is a “cross section” (CS) style prepared glass microscope slide of a budding Hydra. Each slide is professionally prepared and individually labeled, and will ship in a protective case.
Part of the phylum Cnidaria and the class Hydrozoa, the Hydra is a genus of small and simple fresh-water animals possessing radial symmetry. Found mostly in unpolluted fresh-water in temperate and tropical regions, the Hydra is a multi-cellular, predatory animal, typically only a few millimeters long. Because of their regenerative abilities and that they do not appear to age or die of old age, this small is of particular interest for biologists around the world. And while the majority of Hydrozoans go through a change from a polyp to an adult form (medusa), the Hydra remains in the polyp throughout their lives.
