Chalcopyrite Minerals – Pack of 2

A copper iron sulfide mineral, chalcopyrite ranges in color from a brass to golden yellow color, which may be highlighted in spots by an iridescent purplish tarnish. On the Mohs scale of hardness, it ranks between a 3.5 and a 4. Though it is made up in part by copper, the two are not often found in association with each other when copper is in its native copper form.

It is often found in conjunction with coal seams, and is associated with pyrite nodules. Chalcopyrite has also found in carbonate sedimentary rocks.

Each rock or mineral specimen measures approximately 1-2 inches in length along its longest side.
