Description

Glass Air Pressure Apparatus
by American Scientific

With this simple and clever device, you’ll open up a basic understanding of the world of air pressure. Slip the balloon into the bottle and fold the stem of the balloon over the opening, creating a pathway. If you leave the stopper in the bottom of the glass bottle, can you fill the balloon? What happens if you fill the balloon with water, instead of air?

The air pressure apparatus is a great teaching tool to introduce students to the concept of pressure, and discussing how it applies to the world around us and is evident in things such as vacuum cleaners, pumps, weather, and how we breathe.

The glass bottle, also called a harbottle, measures 5″ in diameter and has a height of approximately 5.5 inches. It comes complete with 2 balloons, a size 6 rubber stopper, and a teacher’s guide with discussion points and a number of activities related to physics.
