This wide mouth 60ml Reagent bottle, also known as an Apothecary Jar, is made of Flint glass and comes with a ground glass stopper. Being machine ground, the stopper creates a glass-to-glass, air-tight fit in an upright position without the use of a rubber or cork stopper. Reagent bottles are commonly used to contain chemicals in liquid or powder form for laboratories. Over time, however, they have also become popular to use in the kitchen for storing foods, pantry items or candies. Many people use them for decoration by filling them with items such as dried flowers, colored sand or brightly colored stones. Flint glass is not as resistant to heat, shock or corrosion as Borosilicate glass and is, therefore, less resistant to damage. It should be used for storage only and should not be heated.
