Lumirod Light Rod

Made entirely of acrylic, the lumirod is an excellent tool for demonstrating the principles of fiber optics. The clear acrylic rod is able to conduct the light of a flashlight or laser pointer by way of internal reflection, causing the light to traverse the length of the light rod and emerge from the other end.

While this experiment can be conducted in a room that has been lit up by sunlight or artificial light, the best results are achieved in a darkened room.

An activity guide is included with the lumirod.
