Medium 5.5″ CineSpinner-Animated Suncatcher Optical Illusion

Hang this CineSpinner in your window or in front of any well-lit background, and then sit back and watch. As it slowly rotates, the sun-catcher begins to come to life on the flat disk. Watch the pelican fly across the disk.

This is not a hologram, or made with polarizing filters. In fact, it is very much like a flipbook, a series of slightly different pictures in sequential order, presented in rapid succession. Because your brain is linking each image together, the illusion of motion is created.

How does it work if it is not a flip book? By combining parallax perception (angle of view) with a moire-style of multiple-line patterns to present the image to you, the CineSpinner is able to reproduce the same effect as a flip-book.

Each CineSpinner is a work of art that has been silk-screened by hand in the Eye Think studio, in Waltham, MA, right here in the USA. It has a pre-drilled hole and comes with clear filament for hanging. The natural movement of air creates movement of the disk that animates the figure. No Batteries are required.
