Phyllite Metamorphic Rock – Pack of 10

A metamorphic rock that is foliated (repeated, alternating layers), Phyllite is actually a metamorphosed form of slate, and is considered to be a degree of metamorphism somewhere between that of slate and schist. Overall it has what is considered to be good “fissility”, or the ability to be split into different sheets, or leaves. They are typically found in black, grey, or a light green-grey, in color.

Each rock or mineral specimen measures approximately 1-2 inches in length along its longest side.
