Every day, there is a new panorama to be found at every beach around the world and it isn’t just the people that are changing. It is a story of the things that have been done by the wind, waves, and he current. There is so much to learn about your world simply by studying the sand. It can teach you a lot about the rocks that were broken down over decades and centuries by freezing and thawing, and being ground down into smaller pieces as the glaciers moved across the continents.

Despite all the changes that rocks go through to become sand, you can tel a lot about its parent rock and its place of origin. For example, sand from a beach in Australia will not only be visually different, but chemically different from sand that was found in India or the United States.

The sands of 9 different places are featured on this poster in 8 different photographs taken from beneath the microscope. With each one, you can clearly see all of the different shapes, sizes and colors of the pebbles of sand, and an overview of its composition.
