These days, the news is covering stories about the Earth and Earth Science on a regular basis. From pundits arguing about whether or not climate change is real, to discussing natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes, or simply just reporting the weather forecast, there is no escaping it.

This poster explains how the shape and size of the Earth affect everything around us: the tectonic plates that form the mountain ranges and volcanoes, while at the same time being the cause of earthquakes, to the different layers of the Earth going starting with the endosphere down through to the inner core. It also includes a few of the more interesting wonders that are created, such as geysers and cave systems. All of this information is overlaid on a stunning photograph of the 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland, which disrupted air travel over Europe for more than a week.
