Experience force and motion with this large balancing bird.  This is the giant version of the Balancing Bird…about twice the size of the small bird.  This simple, inexpensive device is fun and offers a great demonstration of the role of the center of mass in the balance and stability of an object. Colors vary and are chosen at random.  Weights in the bird’s wings bring the center of mass to a point below the end of the beak, allowing the bird to be in stable balance on a pencil eraser, the supplied plastic stand, or any other similar surface. More advanced students can be challenged to use the oscillations of the bird as a rigid pendulum to find its moments of inertia.  Colors vary and are chosen at random.
