2 pack of natural Albite specimens with beautiful twinning and assorted shapes and sizes.
Each piece of rock or mineral measures approximately 1-2 inches along the longest side.
A plagioclase feldspar mineral, Albite is the sodium endmember, meaning that it is at the extreme end of the sodium series in terms of purity. It is also considered to be a tectosilicate, which is to say that it has a 3D framework of silicate tetrahedrons. Its basic chemical formula is NaAlSi3O8, and is usually a pure white in color, giving it the Latin name of albus.
It is known for often exhibiting crystal twinning, whereby two separate crystals come together to share some of the same points of their crystal lattice, in a symmetrical manner. Albite is often found in masses of both granite and pegmatite, in hydrothermal veins.
