Optical Coated Glass Solar Eclipse and Sun Viewer
True Light Orange Image of the Sun
Our Solar Viewers are for the solar viewing connoisseur! Optical Coated Glass filters transmit a truer light orange image of the sun. Mounted in a 8.5″ X 5.5″ sturdy corrugated holder with a 2″ X 4″ aperature – backside printed with valuable eclipse information. If you do not want to wear glasses, this is a good alternative.
Solar eclipses occur when the moon comes between the earth and sun, as its shadow falls on the earth, people near the center of the shadow (the umbra) will see a total or annular eclipse, other people nearby (in the penumbra) will see only a partial eclipse. This viewing device is designed for observing all phases of a solar eclipse. The glass filter is designed to properly block harmful radiation from the sun at all times.Â
Sunspots are created when the sun’s magnetic fields deflect heat from rising to the surface. This creates relatively cool areas that appear darker than the rest of the sun’s surface. Sunspots can range in size from a single small spot about the size of the earth to groups as big as the distance between the earth and the moon. They are more numerous at the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle. The next peak is expected in the year 2012.Â
