Barite is the most common mineral containing the element Barium, number 56 on the periodic chart. The structure of this barite is called lamellar because it consists of plates or leaves. Barite crystals often accompany minerals found in sulfide or veins. The specimen may also contains pyrite crystals as shown in the picture.
This beautiful crystal specimen comes inside a small wooden treasure chest. This small chest, is secured shut with a hinge clasp and measures 4.25 inches in length, 3 inches wide, and 2 inches tall. Mineral specimen will measure at least 1 inch in length.
