Prasiolite is the name of a green variety of quartz, but it is commonly referred to as “green amethyst” or “lime citrine” This mineral is rare in nature but can be created by artificially heat treating the purple variety of quartz known as amethyst. Natural prasiolite is light green. Heat treated amethyst will usually be a darker green in color.
